Post-conference tours will take place on 1st and 2nd September. They will be organized in cooperation with our local partners. They will include one or two-day excursions to a number of destinations in Nouvelle Aquitaine Region. Participants will be able to choose from several tours depending on their desired activities and location. These tours will not be included in the conference fee and require a minimum number of participants
Two days / one night stay in the Nature Bird Reserve in Le Teich (Arcachon Laguna)

For those who missed the in conference field trip (or wanted to come back), we propose a 2 days-one night stay in the Bird Nature Reserve (Maison de la Nature).
Located south-east of Arcachon Bay, in the municipality of Le Teich, in the Gascon Landes Regional Nature Park, this protected natural area of 110 hectares is home to a large number of wild birds, who thrive in its salt marshes, lagoons, reed beds, meadows and woodlands. No fewer than 319 species, including 88 nesting, have been counted there! Open to the public throughout the year, the bird sanctuary provides its visitors with a loop trail 6 km, walkable in 3 or 4 hours, dotted with observation huts, identification signs and elevated viewpoints to explore the site at your leisure while taking care to ensure peace and welfare for the birds.
The stay begins Saturday September 1st at 12.00 and ends Sunday September 2nd at 12.00. During the stay, participant will have a free entry to the Nature Bird Reserve where guided and are offered (check on site schedules). The bird Reserve is also ideally located within the Basin of Arcachon area offering many opportunities to visit the nice surroundings (beaches, oysters farms, shoreline…).
Optionally, an additional canoeing ride along the Leyre River can be included (upon registration, extra price of 20€). Leyre river is a very easy river, suitable for family activities.
The transfer is not included but the Nature Bird reserve is very easily accessible by train (see the website of the reserve ). In order to help you, we will give you all the useful information during the conference.

Surfing lessons in Lacanau ocean

With the first international competition in 1979 the village of Lacanau-Ocean has been renowned as one of the main surf spots of France. The 10 miles of north/south beach produces (when the tides, swell and sand banks are lined up) a classic surf zone.
Since 2000, HCL surf school , certified by the French Surf Federation, teach surfing in Lacanau-océan in Gironde. The school has been founded by Cedric Grèze former French National and European bodyboard champion. With Cédric and his team, you will learn how to surf, bodyboard or just simply swim and have fun in the ocean. Lessons are provided at all levels, from beginners to advanced surfers. Kids are welcomed. Lessons will be organized in well balanced groups (8 persons at the maximum) with an experienced coach. Lessons will be provided in French and/or English.
The school offers a main reception, changing rooms, showers and a storage room for equipment. All the surf materials (boards, wetsuits) are provided.
Several options are available from half a day to an entire week end (including overnight stays, lunch and dinners). To guaranty the highest quality of the surfing lessons, a maximum of 3 groups (i.e. 24 persons) will be in the water in the same time. For this reason, several sessions may be organized during Saturday and Sunday depending on the whole number of participants. Some options may not applicable without a minimum of participants. We’ll keep you informed.
Transfer from Bordeaux (presumably the site of the MMV9 conference) to Lacanau Ocean will be organized.

“ (...) Should you wish to do a tour off the calendar or prefer to share this time with friends or family, then this excursion is for you.
We will first cross over the magnificent Pont de Pierre to the other side, where we will follow its beautiful path that offers us a unique view of the Port de la Lune – the Port of the Moon.
Following this path we will cross the impressive Jacques Chaban-Delmas bridge to reach the ‘cité des civilisations du vin’, a huge building dedicated to the history and production of wine. Then we'll bike to Chartrons - a charming neighbourhood famous for its wine cellars, antique shops and market.
We will ride along the serene paths of the Jardin Public – the public garden – a true haven of peace in the heart of the city. Around the corner from the gardens, we will admire the Palais Gallien, the only remaining witness of the almost 4-century long Roman presence.
We will cross the biggest plaza in Europe – Place des Quinconces – which played an often unknown but crucial role in the history of Bordeaux, before going to admire the Place de la Comédie and the majestic Grand Théâtre, the masterpiece of Victor Louis. Last but not least, we will enter the historical centre to discover its greatest monuments, including the Cathédral St. André, the City Hall, and the oldest city gates dating from the 13th and 15th centuries (…)”.

Transfer to downtown Bordeaux is not included in the price but the meeting point is easily accessible by public transport. Kids are welcomed.
